Below is an index of Fit Face ingredients and their benefits
Astaxanthin is found in microalgae, salmon, krill, shrimp, crayfish, and crustaceans, and gives our moisturizer its slight reddish color. Astaxanthin is similar in chemistry to some pigments that give coral exoskeletons their color. Most corals obtain the majority of their energy and nutrients from photosynthetic unicellular algae called zooxanthellae that live within the coral's tissue, and these algae also produce pigments that protect the coral from the sun. Because of its particular molecular structure, astaxanthin serves as an extremely powerful antioxidant. It has a very effective quenching effect against singlet oxygen, a powerful scavenging ability for lipid and free radicals and effectively breaks peroxide chain reactions. Carotenoids are effective at low oxygen concentrations, complementing the activity of vitamin E which is effective at higher oxygen concentrations. Astaxanthin has also been shown to enhance and modulate the immune system. The antioxidant and immunomodulating activities, in combination or separately, may reduce the acute inflammation reaction that follows excessive exposure to UV radiation for the skin and tissue just beneath the skin. Astaxanthin used in Fit Face products is purified from the microalgae H. pluvialis, grown and processed in HawaiiFound in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer, Post-Shave/Sun Serum
Fermentation makes the cell contents of the algae readily available to our skin. This maximizes its moisturizing properties as well as making nutrients required by the skin available. The bioferment is rich in fucoidan, caragenaan, algin, minerals and many active chemicals. It also provides minerals like iodine, copper, molybdate, magnesium, and others, required as cofactors in enzymatic reactions of lipid metabolism and energy conversion.Found in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer, Post-Shave/Sun Serum
Fucoxanthin is a pigment present in Phaeophyta (brown algae) that may protect skin from photo-aging caused by UV exposure. Fucoidans are sulfated polysaccharides with structures that depend on the plant source and growing conditions. Applied to the skin, fucoidan will increase the density of collagen bundles, decrease activity of proteases (enzymes that break down dermal proteins), increase scavenging of free radicals and increase cell proliferationFound in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer, Post-Shave/Sun Serum
Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) Seed Oil is obtained by pressing the seed kernels of an evergreen shrub native to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of Arizona, California and Mexico. This oil is different from other common plant oils in that it is composed almost completely (97%) of wax esters of monounsaturated, straight-chain acids and alcohols with high molecular weights. This makes Jojoba Oil and its derivative Jojoba Esters similar to your own skin’s sebum (your skin's own lubricating medium). This gives jojoba a natural affinity to the skin, and is readily absorbed without making the skin feel greasy or tacky nor does it clog the pores. It has exceptional skin-softening properties, as well as the ability to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, promoting skin suppleness while assisting with the rejuvenation of the skin.Found in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer
Hydrolyzed Collagen is unique in its amino acid structure because of its high amounts of glycine, lysine and proline, which are found in lower amounts in other protein food supplements. These particular amino acids are found to generate cell growth much more quickly because the natural ability to produce supporting amounts of connective tissue diminishes after the age of 25. Hydrolyzed Collagen is more easily digested because of its low molecular weight and is absorbed within 30 minutes. All of the amino acids collectively are beneficial to cell reproduction, but it is the distinctive spectrum of this product that impacts the metabolic pathways to healthy tissue.Found in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer, Post-Shave/Sun Serum
The polymer hyaluronic acid is an important natural component of skin produced by fibroblast skin cells, which decreases as you age. Skin starts losing hyaluronic acid as early as age 18, but wrinkles and other skin damage from hyaluronic acid loss don't generally show up until the late 30s or early 40s. The loss of natural hyaluronic acid is one of the causes of wrinkles, so by applying hyaluronic acid – which holds up to 1000 times its weight in water - skin can look younger and fuller.Found in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer, Post-Shave/Sun Serum
Z-Cote ® is a new transparent micro fine zinc oxide comprised of 7% zinc oxide. It blocks both UVA and UVB radiation. Excellent for sensitive skin. Zinc Oxide is a physical/mineral sun block that is not absorbed, so it does not cause any allergic reactions or contain harmful chemical components. The importance of Z-Cote ® as UVA blocker is well recognized by the dermatological community.Found in Advanced Protection SPF
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is key to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels and gives skin its firmness and strength. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that slows the rate of free-radical damage -- free radicals are unstable molecules that damage collagen and cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. New research shows that ascorbic acid 2-phosphate, a derivative of vitamin C, not only neutralizes free radicals, but also reverses DNA damage. Research suggests that vitamin C may also reduce sunburn caused by exposure to ultraviolet B radiation and prevent the consequences of long-term sun exposure, which can lead to skin cancer.Found in Advanced Protection SPF
Vitamin E’s substantiated benefits include enhancing the efficacy of active sunscreen ingredients, reducing the formation of free radicals from exposure to UV rays, promoting the healing process, strengthening the skin's barrier function, protecting the skin barrier's lipid balance, and reducing transepidermal water loss. Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of Vitamin E, a natural skin-conditioning agent and antioxidant. It is the ester of Acetic Acid and Tocopherol and is often used as an alternative to pure Tocopherol (or undiluted Vitamin E) because it is considered more stable and less acidicFound in Advanced Nutrition Moisturizer, Advanced Protection SPF, Advanced Maintenance Cleanser
Camellia Oleifera is a flowering plant native to China that contains one of the most formidable antioxidants discovered to date: ECGC. This nutrient is an incredibly powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that heals aged, dry skin, helps erase age spots, and rids acne-prone skin of bacteria and other irritants. In addition to ECGS, Japanese Green Tea Leaf Extract is loaded with other skin-loving nutrients, such as carotenoids and vitamins E and C which also protect skin from sun damage, heal scars, and enhance skin tone.Found in Advanced Protection SPF
Chamomilla Recutita Extract is an extract of the flowerheads of the matricaria, Chamomilla recutita. Chamomile is an ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties, commonly used to relieve inflammatory skin conditions and calm sensitive skin. Chamomilla contains active flavonoids, which are particularly useful in the care of sensitive skin. These flavonoids treat dermatitis related inflammation due by inhibiting the release of histamine – a chemical that causes itching and redness. The herbal extract is rich in vitamin B, which explains why Chamomile has found wide application to soothe, moisturize and inhibit the growth of bacteria. Moreover, it also contains phenolic derivatives which have antiseptic and healing properties.Found in Advanced Protection SPF
Ginkgo is an Asian tree that’s been around for centuries. Known as one of the oldest living trees on Earth, its leaves are used to make an extract that’s one of the bestselling supplements in the U.S. and in Europe. Ginkgo’s main promise in skin care is its antioxidant compounds. Since much of skin aging is caused by free radical damage, ginkgo’s ability to protect against free radicals may help protect skin from signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging, and age spots. Recent studies also suggest that Gingko may reduce the number of UVB-induced sunburn cells. Extracts from ginkgo leaves have also shown anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which could help reduce the occurrence of acne and other skin concerns like rosacea and eczema.Found in Advanced Protection SPF
Used by the Chinese for more than 5,000 years, the root of the ginseng is referred to as the flower of life because of its qi, or vital essence. An anti-aging ingredient, ginseng contains a large number of phytonutrients. These phytonutrients can stimulate and activate the skin's metabolism and blood flow to regenerate and tone. Ginseng can help balance the oil gland production and can smooth fine lines and wrinkles in mature skin.Found in Advanced Protection SPF
Aloe Vera is a cactus plant that belongs to the Liliaceae family. It grows in dry climates such as those found in parts of Africa and India and has been used medicinally for centuries. Aloe leaves secrete a clear gel that when broken off from the rest of the plant that can be applied topically to heal wounds and soothe skin. Various studies have been conducted to examine the benefits of the aloe vera plant and have found that aloe vera has several properties that are effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, from acne to dry skin. Aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. Giberellin in aloe vera acts as a growth hormone stimulating the growth of new cells. It allows the skin to heal quickly and naturally with minimal scarring.Found in Advanced Maintenance Cleanser
Algae, commonly referred to as “seaweed,” conditions, hydrates, softens and detoxifies the skin, all while replenishing essential vitamins and minerals. Rich in antioxidants, algae also helps to protect skin against free radical damage and prevents the formation of an enzyme that causes the deprivation of collagen.
Recent studies show that algae extract is rich in a compound called Alguronic Acid, shown to increase cell regeneration and the synthesis of elastin. Elastin is a protein in the skin’s underlying layers that gives it firmness and elasticity. As we age, skin begins to lose its elastin fibers. The thinning and deterioration of elastin over time causes wrinkles, ‘laugh’ lines, expression marks, sagging and rippled skin. The resulting decrease in elastin physically changes the skin’s structure, leaving it weaker and more susceptible to tears. Aging skin loses Elastin at the rate of about one percent each year– even faster if exposed to constant sunlight. The loss of elastin combined with gravity and the natural slackening of facial muscles, all contribute to sagging, droopy, wrinkled skin.

Orange essential oil is shown to promote the production of collagen as well as increase the blood flow to the skin. It has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, and it is helpful at soothing dry, irritated skin as well as acne-prone skin. The oil is extracted from the fruit of the Orange plant (Citrus sinensis) by cold-press method.Found in Advanced Maintenance Cleanser
Coconut milk is liquid endosperm. In nature it both stimulates the embryo to grow and at the same time supplies the embryo with food. Results from callus cultures show that its active components stimulate the growth of foreign cells, too. Endosperm is the seed tissue, both liquid and solid, used to provide nutrition to the plant embryo before it emerges and can obtain its own nutrition via photosynthesis. Besides the well known plant hormone, kinetin, coconut endosperm also contains vitamins, amino acids, sugars, minerals, and more. Our coconut (Cocos nucifera) endosperm is dried using lipophilization (freeze drying), a method that ensures complete preservation of activity, as the water is evaporated at very low temperature. This process preserves activity until the user adds water or mixes the dry coconut endosperm with cream or lotion.Found in Post-Shave/Sun Serum
